“Little Bill” Gaither was born in Bullitt County, KY, and despite being very prolific (he recorded over 100 sides, often with pianist George "Honey" Hill), he is a neglected and vastly underrated bluesman.   After his good friend and pianist Leroy Carr died, he was often referred to as “Leroy’s Buddy.”  He was probably best known for his song, “Champ Joe Louis (King of the Gloves).”  As one source reads, “Blues scholar Paul Oliver highlighted Gaither's innovative yet understudied contributions to 20th-century blues guitar, placing him among key figures whose technical subtleties warrant greater analysis for their role in bridging rural and urban styles.”
