Sylvester Weaver is notable for being the first blues guitarist to record. He played slide guitar both as a soloist and as an accompanist for blues singer Sara Martin, the Famous Moanin Mama. Weaver also recorded with Helen Humes. Martin was one of the most popular vaudeville blues singers of her time.
